2 days itinerary in Melbourne, Australia: Tour Bike: Best Restaurants: Most popular beaches
Melbourne first day we did the bike tour of the most popular beaches. It has the largest number of restaurants and cafes per capita in the world. Discover central melbourne.
The eternal dispute between Sydney and Melbourne (the same we found in Brazil between Rio and Sampa) motivated me even more to visit the capital of the state of Victoria.
- First Day: bike route along the beaches and Luna Park
- Second Day: CBD and its lanes, Carlton, Docklands and Eureka Tower
Australia’s second largest city has approximately 4.5 million inhabitants, and has been voted 7 times in a row by The Economist magazine as the best city to live in the world.
The city is recognized by the tram system (the famous Trams), which is the fourth largest in the world and the largest outside Europe. This system extends over more than 240 kilometers of track. In the city center there is even a Free Zone, where you can drive for free, and go through streets where only they have access.
Melbourne is a city under strong European influence, however, today, it has a large presence of Asians mainly from China and India.
It is possible to notice the European influence through the architecture of the city, as well as the gastronomy. The climate is also very reminiscent of that of the Old Continent, as Melbourne has colder temperatures than most cities in Australia.
In addition, Melbourne has the largest number of restaurants and cafes per capita in the world!

First Day: bike route along the beaches and Luna Park
With a beautiful day and an eye-blue sky, we started our tour from one of
2 days itinerary in Melbourne, Australia: Tour Bike
In the first minutes because it is something new, we wind up a little, but then we see that it is not at all difficult to rent a bike in this city.
We put the debit or credit card in the machine, selected the $ 3 Day Pass service, and then the system generated an access code. In a few minutes we were already cycling.
Remembrance Day – Shrine of RemembranceJust before starting this bike route along the beaches, the idea was to visit the Shrine of Remembrance, because from there you have a great view of the city, but as it was a day of celebration at this tourist spot (Remembrance Day 2017 – day in honor of the dead and war veterans) we had to relocate the visit to the next day.

2 days itinerary in Melbourne, Australia: Tour Bike
So, let’s go back to renting our bike and the idea of touring the main beaches in the city, heading towards the St. Kilda region.
Leaving the Southbank neighborhood, where we were staying (at a friend’s house), it is approximately 5 km of cycling. In about 25 to 30 minutes, we were already sitting in a beautiful restaurant in St. Kilda Beach having breakfast, Coffee Republica.
– St. Kilda
There we rescue the energies of the ride, we have our beautiful coffee and after a good moment of conversation, we go by bike towards Brighton Beach.
The entire route was made by the huge bike path that has this border. Everything very structured and well organized, there we went cycling, stopping for pictures and a little water and enjoying the beautiful day I was in Melbourne.
After about 6 to 7 km and about 40 to 50 minutes of cycling, as we stopped a few times for photos and water, we arrived at the final destination: Brighton Beach and its Victorian houses on the edge of the beach.

And as beautiful lovers of the sea and the beach, we couldn’t let the sunny day go unscathed! We enjoyed a beautiful beach for about 3 hours. A lot of sun, cold water (as is usual in Australia) and a nice chat between friends.
After that time, we took our bikes and went back the whole way. The intention at that time was to get to know the St. Kilda region a little, and among the famous spots there is Luna Park. Some very typical tourist pictures in front of the park, and it was time to fill my stomach, even because it was already snoring.
We followed Acland Street, a very busy street full of restaurants and bars, and arrived at La Roche , a bar with giant hamburgers. And it was there that we killed whoever was killing us, hunger!

We left bent from eating so much, and tired of a day of a lot of cycling and the beach. The next idea was to go home and go out at night, but whoever said the body left. Age is beating rs.Before we arrived where we were staying, Southbank, we followed our route from St. Kilda, only this time we took an “alternative” route to see the place where the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Albert Park . Which by the way, a beautiful place to meet and enjoy on a good day.

At that moment we covered a few more kilometers and our tour of the day was finished. At home and redone we took advantage of the end of the day to rest and catch up, as we were staying with friends.

Second Day: CBD and its lanes, Carlton, Docklands and Eureka Tower
For the second and last day the idea was to visit the CBD (the city center as the Australians call it – acronym for the Central Business District) and close with a beautiful view of the city in the largest building in Melbourne. And so we fulfill our goal!
We start with the Shrine of Remembrance and its beautiful view of the city. As I mentioned earlier, we were unable to do it the day before due to an event, so we took advantage of this location on Sunday.
The day started a little cloudy, and with an air that the sun wouldn’t show us, but after visiting the Shrine, he came, and he came with everything.
We accessed the place on foot, because as I said we were staying at a friend’s house right next to the tourist spot, in Southbank.
We enter the building and go up to its terrace, where tourists focus for pictures of the city. A few minutes there, and we head towards the CBD and its attractions.

We passed by the National Gallery of Victoria, we entered to know the architecture of the place, we went to the Arts Center Melbourne, and in that short time between this place and the city’s main river, the Yarra River, we visited a free market and I stayed open all on Sundays.

From there, we continue walking through Melbourne, and we reach the banks of Yarra and its famous Federation Square. Photos and more photos, we then proceed to Pony Fish Island , home to the Pony Fish bar. Walking to this place, we still pass inside the Arbory Bar & Eatery, another very interesting bar on the banks of the Yarra River.
Pony Fish bar, without a doubt, is a place to be enjoyed with some calm and accompanied by beer or a nice local drink. And that is exactly what we did. We stayed there for about an hour and a half, enjoying the beauty of the place, the European air of the riverside and drinking some to enjoy the beautiful sun of the day.
Pony Fish Island and its Pony Fish Bar
After a nice chat and a few drinks, we went on to our special lunch. A giant parmigiana in the Italian neighborhood – Carlton, was waiting for us. The chosen place was the Universal Restaurant . Located on Lygon Street, in this same neighborhood, the place houses a restaurant founded in 1969 and a bit retro. There we were served a parmigiana to make any hungry hungry. We spent a few hours in this restaurant, and after being fed and rested, we went on to a few more points of interest.
The Docklands region now awaited us. We continue walking from Carlton to Docklands (before we even stopped by the Queen Victoria Market, another point of interest in this city) and there some more photos in the port area of Melbourne. A cow on top of the tree here, a big stadium there, and yet another touring moment was ending.

The idea after this tour was to take the tourist tram and go through some specific points that only this Tram does, but we arrived late and the last tour was over. But here’s the tip!
– Free Tourist Tram
The City Circle ( Free Tourist Tram – number 35), makes the following route:
Since the tourist route was not possible, we went earlier to the Eureka Tower. We took the tram in Dockland, being more precise in front of Etihad Stadium, and went again to the surroundings of the Yarra River. There we find one of our last destinations: Eureka Tower .
An urban skyline with:
- Eureka Skydeck 88 is the highest public viewpoint in the Southern Hemisphere;
- The top of the Tower can flex up to 600 mm in high winds;
- There are two 300,000 liter water tanks at level 90 and 91 that serve to prevent any over-balance;
- 680 stairs – 92 floors – 52,000 square meters of windows
- Eureka used 110 thousand tons of concrete and weighs 200 thousand tons.

In this building there were photos and more photos, and about 1 hour to enjoy the place. After touring the heights, we went to the last stops of the day: the famous Lanes and the graffiti of Melbourne.
We visited two important Lanes: Hosier Lane and AC / DC Lane . We took advantage of the evening and went around both and took good pictures. This is the end of our two intense days of touring the capital of the state of Victoria, Australia.
Melbourne definitely has nothing to do with São Paulo! And this RJ X SP fight is just talk!
