Morro de São Paulo
5 days itinerary
Morro de São Paulo is the third largest tourist center in Bahia. It is located to the south of the capital of Bahia, Salvador and is part of the only archipelago municipality in Brazil within the set of islands in the City of Cairu.
The natural beauties of Morro de São Paulo, with beaches with calm and crystalline waters, white sands and vast coconut trees in addition to its dense Atlantic Forest make up a breathtaking scenery.
Located on the island of Tinharé that bears the same name as the archipelago, it is the ideal destination for all tourists and has already been pleasing visitors from all over the world and has already included this paradise in their travel itineraries.
Let’s go to our script on this little piece of Bahia:
First day
The day started in the capital of Bahia and ended in Morro de São Paulo!
We purchased our transfer from Salvador to Morro in advance through an authorized dealer.
The meeting point was at Cassi’s store , next to the Mercado Modelo.

We arrived half an hour before the time marked on the voucher, as requested by the company, and we wait for our transport to leave.
We acquired the option of semi-terrestrial to reach Morro.
How to get to Morro de São Paulo?
- Ferry – direct boat transport, leaving Salvador to Morro de São Paulo – estimated value R $ 90.00 to R $ 120.00 per passenger ;
- Semi Terreste – transport by boat and van, leaving Salvador to Morro de São Paulo – estimated value R $ 90.00 to R $ 110.00 per passenger;
- Air – estimated value of R $ 435.00 per passenger.

Our saga to Morro started at 10:30 am with a 40-minute ferry ride between Salvador’s Maritime Terminal and Itaparica Island.
As soon as we arrived on the island, we headed to a meeting point to wait for the van that would take us to the other end of the island, in Nazaré.
The land route Itaparica – Nazaré – Valença lasts about 1h30.
When we arrived in Nazaré, we disembarked from the van and soon a representative from the contracted agency approached us and directed us to the last route, this was done by boat.
On the route from Valença to Morro it takes about 10 to 12 minutes.
We disembarked in Morro and soon we were already at the door of our inn.
We chose a very central accommodation and close to the entrance to the island.
We left suitcases and ran to “take the belly out of misery”, as we were starving after this long and somewhat tiring journey.
After lunch, which was done almost at 4 pm, we went for a walk of local recognition.
At night it was time for a nice pasta dish and a beer, because nobody is made of iron!
We closed the day around 22h.
Second day
Already facing the second day in Morro, and the first full day on the island, we decided to take the tour back to the island, the most famous in the region.
The previous day we researched prices in some agencies and decided on a specific one that made a more interesting value.

On this day we left around 9:15 am to the scheduled meeting point, the agency in the center of Morro.
On this day we left around 9:15 am to the scheduled meeting point, the agency in the center of Morro.
We walked to the third beach and from there we followed the boat to the circuit.
Our route back to the island was as follows:
- We passed the fourth beach and the fifth beach;
- We continue to the Garapuá Natural Pools (we stayed 30 minutes);
- We went to the Moreré Natural Pools (we stayed 30 to 40 minutes);
- We sailed to Boipeba Island, but precisely to Praia da Cueira and then to the part of Boca da Barra (at this point we stayed from 12:45 to 15:45);
- We continue to Canavieiras along the Rio do Inferno, where there are floating bars where tourists can eat oysters grown in this region (we stayed about 30 minutes);
- Then we went to Cairú, where we got off the boat to visit the island and get to know one of the oldest monasteries in Brazil, the Santo Antonio Monastery (we stayed approximately 1 hour on site);
- Finally we head towards Morro again, passing through the town of Galeão.
We arrived at the port of Morro around 6 pm and proceeded to the inn to take a nice shower and the night out again for dinner and enjoy the island.
We ended the day at around 10pm.
Third day
On the third day we decided to enjoy a beautiful beach.
Our day was filled with a lot of sun and sea spread on the second beach.
To better understand the Morro de SP region we will explain how it is divided.
The island is called Tinharé, where Vila de Morro de São Paulo is located, and it is composed “basically” by:
First Beach
Second Beach
Third Beach
Fourth Beach
Encanto Beach
Gamboa do Morro
In addition to these “main points” and closer to Morro, there are also the villages of Garapuá, Pratigi, Canavieiras and Galeão.
We were focused on enjoying the Second Beach on this third day.

In the evening it was time to visit Toca do Morcego and see the sunset at the Morro Lighthouse.
We ended the day with a great crepe at a restaurant on the square.
Fourth day
On the fourth day we head towards the town of Gamboa and there we stay all day on a great beach.
To get there, just go to the main port and buy a boat ticket worth 4 reais per person (one way).
The boats leave with great frequency and in less than 20 minutes you will be in Gamboa.
In this area you will find a very nice village and a very peaceful and well-structured beach. All kiosks have wifi available and have chairs and umbrellas for the comfort of the tourist. You only pay for what you consume.
We arrived in Gamboa around 11:30 am and returned at 4:30 pm.
There is a path along the coast that takes tourists from Morro to Gamboa, but you have to check the tide because when it is high there is no sand strip for this walk.
We opted for the round trip by boat.
After the beach in Gamboa we returned to the inn, rested a little and at night we went out to eat and close the day in this little piece of the world.
Fifth day
On the last and last day in Morro, as we would have to check out at 12pm, we reserved only the morning for some activity.
We decided to take a nice walk on the beaches near Morro and enjoy a small beach on one of them.
We left the inn around 9 am, after having our coffee, and headed towards Segunda Praia.
We walked along the banks of the Second, Third and Fourth Beaches and decided to stay on the Fourth, which I really enjoyed!
Of all the beaches that I passed in the vicinity of Vila de Morro de São Paulo, the one I enjoyed the most was the Fourth Beach. It’s because?
Because it’s quieter, less people, cleaner and calmer water.
We stayed on this beach for about an hour and a half and as we had time to return, we had to return to the village to bathe and pack our bags.
We checked out at 12pm, according to rules, left our bags at the inn and went on to lunch.
We chose a restaurant in the center, ate and went back to the inn to wait for our transfer time.
Our return to Salvador was scheduled for 3:30 pm.
We took a semi-terrestrial route again, where we took the boat between Morro and Valencia, after a bus from Valencia to Itaparica and from Itaparica to Salvador again by boat.
Our end and beginning of the year itinerary ended with our arrival at Salvador airport on the night of the first Friday of the year.
